The role:
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Leader to take ownership of the Commissioning function and Commissioning Management activities across our SES Central division within SES Engineering Services.
This is a senior leadership role with accountability for ensuring that Commissioning strategy, governance, capability and delivery arrangements are consistently applied to achieve best value, regulatory compliance and high‑quality outcomes for our customers.
As a member of the Regional Senior Leadership Team, you will provide strategic direction and visible leadership, ensuring Commissioning excellence is embedded across bids, projects and operational delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

Commissioning Strategy & Governance
Lead and implement the SES Commissioning Strategy, ensuring alignment with wider business objectives, customer expectations, statutory requirements and industry best practice. -
Functional Leadership & Capability
Lead the Commissioning function, ensuring the right levels of competence, capability and capacity are in place through effective leadership, mentoring, succession planning and performance management. -
Project & Delivery Assurance
Provide oversight and assurance across all Commissioning activities, ensuring projects are resourced, planned and delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. -
Supply Chain & Consultant Management
Govern and manage Commissioning contractors and consultants, including approved lists, performance management, KPI improvement, value engineering and structured engagement. -
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Drive innovation by embedding digital tools, streamlined workflows, low‑carbon solutions and emerging technologies to enhance delivery efficiency, consistency and customer value. -
Collaboration & Stakeholder Leadership
Work collaboratively across Pre‑Contract, Operations, HS&W, Quality, Commercial, Design & Engineering, Customer Strategy and Business Improvement to embed Commissioning excellence across the full project lifecycle.
Given the nature of this position, you will be required to undergo a Basic/Standard/Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at offer stage
What you will bring:
You will be a strategic and credible senior leader with extensive experience in Commissioning and Commissioning Management within a complex engineering or construction environment.
- Proven experience leading Commissioning functions at regional, business unit or major project level
- Strong knowledge of Commissioning governance, regulatory compliance and technical assurance
- Experience managing and influencing Commissioning Contractors, Consultants and supply chain partners
- A track record of driving performance improvement, innovation and digital adoption
- The ability to collaborate effectively across HS&W, Quality, Commercial, Design & Engineering, Operations, Customer Strategy and Business Improvement
- Strong commercial awareness and experience managing budgets and value engineering decisions
- Confidence and credibility to influence senior internal stakeholders, clients and industry bodies
- A leadership style that promotes collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement
